See the joy reflected in their flowers\, landscapes and the world around us.\nJan Butler: “My paintings reflect a love for nature and gardening. Colorful flowers are a joy to recreate in watercolor. A number of my works are rendered using a batik technique using wax\, watercolor and ink on rice paper. I try to capture sunlight and color in a realistic manner.”\nJill Stromberg: “After years of creating art\, I came to the conclusion that painting is an expression of hopefulness. I gravitate towards subjects of simple beauty exhibiting the contrast of light and dark. I strive to exaggerate the light and color intensity and the finished product is my attempt to convey the lightness of life and beauty of nature.”\nSue Vautravers: “I love creating paintings that look vibrant and exciting. I tend to paint florals and am always photographing subjects that tell a story with an emphasis on light and shadow. I work mostly in oil and have done some pastel paintings too. Painting is a true joy in my life.” \n

DESCRIPTION:AUGUST 3RD – SEPTEMBER 26TH\nLarksfield Place Independent Living Gallery\n7373 E. 29th St. North\nGallery is open 8:00am – 5:00pm and the exhibits will be on display through September 26th. \nThe Kansas Academy of Oil Painters (KAOP) began in 1985 at the urging of the Wichita Center for the Arts\, which had been sponsoring an annual small oil painting show for several years. The membership of KAOP includes prize-winning artists\, most of whom are proficient in many other areas of art from sculpture to pastels\, stained glass\, graphics\, and photography. As KAOP has evolved\, the principal goal has been to encourage each other to achieve excellence in painting through member interaction\, sharing of information\, and painting demonstrations.\nContact Sharyl Dorsey in the Business Center or Carlene Williams to purchase art.
