Wichita State University and Larksfield Place Team Up to Promote Positive Aging

As part of Wichita State University’s commitment to promoting positive aging and combating ageism, they are hosting an in-person University Community Innovations for Positive Aging (UCIPA) Conference on Friday, April 15th from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Hughes Metropolitan Complex, 5015 E. 29th Street North. The day will include keynote talks and workshops, lunch, and a Graduate Student Poster Session co-sponsored by Larksfield Place.  

Participants will learn cutting edge strategies for promoting positive aging and new and developing methods of promoting successful aging programming. Knowledgeable experts and leaders in the field of aging research will guide the event, including keynote speakers Dr. Joann Montepare & Dr. Marcia Ory.

Larks­field Place will then host a Positive Aging Day Presentation for residents and their guests on Saturday, April 16th with featured  speaker Dr. JoAnn Montepare. JoAnn is a Professor of Psychology at Lasell University in Newton, Massachusetts where she has pioneered a very successful program of intergenerational teaching and learning.
